The Rio Linda Lions Club is a community service organization that serves the Rio Linda and Elverta Communities.
We meet the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Thursday at the Grange Hall - 1315 G Street Rio Linda at 6:30pm
During the Rio Linda Lions Club Board Meeting on 1/6/16 a motion was made to: Put to a membership vote on 1/21/15 to reduce regular membership meetings from the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th Thursdays of the month to the 2nd and 4th Thursday from 6:30 to 8:00pm and Put to a membership vote on 1/21/15 to Increase single person membership dues from $40 for 6-months and 80 per year to $50 for 6-months and $100 for a year. Increase additional family member’s membership dues to half of that. We also changed the Board Meeting from 7:00pm to 6:00pm This serves as notice that we plan to have a membership vote on these two motions on January 28, 2016. Please plan to attend the meeting to cast your vote. Votes are not excepted by Proxy. Written notice will be made 1/14/16
Ruby's Baskets - Lion President Francis An and Laury chaired a very successful Ruby's Basket. With the help of Community Members, Schools and Dukes Car Club we were able to put together a Ruby’s Baskets for every needy family that was recommended through the local schools. We were also able to provide an additional 15 Ruby’s Baskets for low income seniors in our community. Each basket includes the fixings’ for a Christmas Dinner with a turkey and fresh vegetables and canned goods for weeks to come. We also include toys for children to make the festive season even brighter. Thank you to everyone for your donations and help to make this happen.
District Governor's Visit - District Governor, Mike Retzlaff, will be attending our meeting on January 21, 2016. Accompanying him will be First Lady Sheri Retzlaff, 1VDG Kumar Kalagara, 2VDG Nick McNicholas, RC Larry Vogelesang and ZC Micky Wartena.
Student Speaker Contest – Ed Valencia will be chairing the Annual Student Speaker Contest on February 11th. The contest is open to high school students in the Rio Linda and Elverta Communities. The speech is 5-10 minutes on the topic of "Liberty and justice for All" --What does that mean to you?
Flag Day – Ed Valencia and the reining student speaker will spend some time with the local 6th grade classes talking about the American Flag's history, symbolism and treating it with respect on February 19th
Read to Succeed – Shelli Bolsover will chair a reading challenge during the month of March. Shelli will purchase the kindles after she gets a chance to meet with the principles and English teachers
Murder Mystery Dinner – February 27th there will be a murder at the Hop. The Murder will take place at the Rio Linda Grange with dinner
Beef Stew and Pie – Larry George March 26th. Larry and Ed are determining the location
Welcome to Rio Linda Sign – Laury Porter Now that the holidays are over, Laury would like to get together primarily with Ed and Larry and possibly Chuck White and Bob Bastian together to strategize about the other clubs. Monday night the 18th at Larry’s 6:45. Bring wine

501(c)(3) – Felix – Shelli provided Felix with the Rio Linda Lions Club Constitution, Bylaws, meeting minutes from the past year and roster of the board.
